Early Projections for Next Year's First Round Picks
With the 2010 draft less than a year away, here is an early look at first round projections. Sam Bradford leads a class that outshines its predecessor's.
The Rams, Raiders, and Lions will vie for the first pick yet again in the 2010 draft. Depending on salary cap issues, they may need to trade down to stockpile draft picks.
Here is a 2010 NFL Mock Draft:
2010 NFL Mock Draft
1. Rams
Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
Lions will have the worst record, but can't afford another No. 1 overall. Teams will want to trade up for this QB, unlike the lack of interest in Matt Stafford.
2. Raiders
Eric Berry, SS, Tennessee
Will the new Raiders coach be able to talk Al Davis out of workout wonder Taylor Mays?
3. Buccaneers
Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
Tampa Bay's defense will really need help after its first full Monte Kiffin-less season.
4. Lions
Russell Okung, OT, OklahomaState
They'll do anything to protect their investment in Matthew Stafford.
5. 49ers
Taylor Mays, S, USC
Might as well cement all the comparisons to Ronnie Lott.
2010 NFL First Round Projections
6. Jaguars
Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
The disruptive Suh will help bring some bite back to this defense.
7. Browns
Mark Herzlich, LB, BostonCollege
Or perhaps Sergio Kindle, who is slotted at number 14.
8. Jets
Dez Bryant, WR, OklahomaState
Assuming the Jets don't sign Plaxico Burress, new quarterback Mark Sanchez will need more help.
9. Bengals
Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois
How much longer can an unhappy Chad Ocho Cinco work in Cincy?
2010 NFL Rookies
10. Packers
Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
The Packers need to make that big investment in Aaron Rodgers pay off.
11. Bills
Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
The Bills could also look at receiver if the Terrell Owens experiment doesn't work out.
12. Seahawks
Joe Haden, CB, Florida
The Seahawks will need more help running after the Cardinals' receivers.
13. Redskins
Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
All it takes is for one team to fall in love with the chosen one. Tebow doesn't necessarily fit the mold of a Jim Zorn quarterback.
14. Chiefs
Sergio Kindle, OLB, Texas
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Scott Pioli traded down even more in this draft to take control of the second round, like he used to in New England.
15. Vikings
Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
He's 6-foot-6, 285 pounds and could go even higher if he dominates the 2009 season.
2010 NFL Draft
16. Falcons
Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama
The Falcons did draft Peria Jerry, but coach Mike Smith could add more size on that defensive line.
17. Dolphins
Brandon Spikes, LB, Florida
The hard-hitting LB has Bill Parcells written all over him.
18. Seahawks
Greg Hardy, DE, Mississippi
If this seems too low a spot for a team that finished 4-12 last season, remember the Seahawks were decimated by injuries in 2008.
19. Saints
Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
New Orleans failed to get a big back in this year's draft.
20. Ravens
Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU
Baltimore's leading receiver, Derrick Mason, is 35.
21. Broncos
Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
Denver will still be looking to shore up its defense.
22. Texans
Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
This is the year the Texans break into the playoffs.
23. Cowboys
Trevard Lindley, CB, Kentucky
Tony Romo fails to get his first playoff win, which would have moved the Cowboys further down in the first round.
24. Titans
Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Or will Tennessee be looking for a quarterback here?
25. 49ers
Jevan Snead, QB, Mississippi
Snead could be the No. 1 overall pick next year or fall out of the first round.
26. Cardinals
George Selvie, DE, South Florida
Will the Cardinals be looking for a QB as well?
27. Colts
Brandon Lange, DE, Troy
The small-school product could be the Colts' next sack specialist.
28. Chargers
DeMarco Murray, RB, Oklahoma
Chargers can't get over the hump in the playoffs.
29. Giants
Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama
McClain reportedly has looked scary during spring practice.
30. Patriots
C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
If they don't trade out of the first round, they'll need a running back.
31. Eagles
Ciron Black, OT, LSU
Andy Reid gets back to his true passion next season, drafting offensive linemen.
32. Steelers
Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama
Not a lot of immediate needs for Pittsburgh as they defeat the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

The 2010 draft class is much better than this year's and its schedule may change to place it on primetime television.
